    His Lordship was born to Mrs. Sudesh Dahiya and Dr. Bhim S. Dahiya, formerly Vice-Chancellor, Kurukshetra University. He attended Senior Model School, University Campus, Kurukshetra and graduated with distinction in Arts from CRA College, Sonepat in 1987. He obtained his M.A. in English from Kurukshetra University in 1989, and completed his LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi in 1992. He joined the Bar the same year and earned his LL.M. from Kurukshetra University, while practising, in 1996.

    His Lordship practiced at the Punjab and Haryana High Court and handled administrative, civil, and criminal law cases. He represented and provided consultancy to private as well as institutional clients. Additionally, he served as an Additional Central Government Standing Counsel from 1995-98 and 2004-07. He also provided assistance to the Court as amicus curiae in many matters of importance. Having a keen interest in pro bono work, he regularly accepted cases from the High Court Legal Services Committee and the Punjab State Legal Services Authority.

    From 1997 to 2000, His Lordship served as a part-time Lecturer in the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He also authored several articles on legal issues that were published in law magazines and journals.

    Being a trained Mediator, he worked in that capacity at the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of the Punjab and Haryana High Court from 2009 to 2013. In addition, he served as a Reporter for the Indian Law Reports, Punjab and Haryana Series.

    His Lordship was designated as Senior Advocate by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on 28 May 2021. Subsequently on 16 August 2022, he was appointed as an Additional Judge, and then, on 28 September 2023, as Judge of this Court.
